Topic Research: Karma
(This is a photo of my topic for an introduction purposes.
For my storybook, I have decided that Karma is the most likely topic as of right now. Karma is a the concept that every action has a consequential reaction. In the Indian epics this links across all life times of a single being. From what I have researched, it appears that karma is a concept in Hinduism, however, in some Indian epics Karma is portrayed as a god or goddess too.
Vedavati:
Vedavati is a story of its own, but the reason I would use it for one of my stories is because it relates to Karma in the form of the rebirth of Sita. Vedavati was Sita in her pervious life. Vedavati was captured by Ravana and rejected him as she did in her after life, but this time Vedavati was made to walk into a fire to her death, but not before she cursed Ravana. The below picture is a great representation of the fact that Karma crosses over different lifetimes.
Sita in Lanka:
This is the second story I would use because it is essentially the sequel to the previous story. I am assuming that the curse Vedavati casted upon Ravana is that he cannot rape and must have consent, which puts Sita in her lifetime at an advantage. This is a huge Karma story in my opinion. I am not sure about my ideas yet, but I might end up combining this epic and the previous, but for now I am going to keep them as separates.
Rama's Mission Fulfilled:
This might be my final story it might not, I feel like as I read more epics in this class I might possibly find a better continuation of the Sita story, but for now this is a good contender. I think this story shows how Sita's Karma as finally passed for the moment being, but almost immediately after that Rama acts upon an action to summon his own Karma. This is a great example of the fact that Karma is a never ending thing.
(I thought this was a simple, clean picture that could be used as the background header for my storybook website.
