My Topic Brainstorm for my Storybook or Portfolio

1. Traditional Foods: I got this idea from reading a previous student's storybook called, The Epics of FoodThis is one of the topics I am leaning towards. I like the idea of using this topic for my story book because I like to try new foods, and I also just like learning about the cultures of other countries. I think food is a huge factor of culture. Indian food is a territory I have not explored yet. However, I am always looking for new recipes to try, so I think I would really enjoy this topic. Below is a picture of a table full of the Indian cuisine.

2. Stories of Karma: I was introduced to this topic by reading The Karma Diaries storybook. I find this an interesting topic because it  is sort of in the criminal justice genre. I believe Karma is also a god from what I understand, so that is also an interesting detail for this topic too. I really like the justice court scene, and I also would like to learn about the gods and goddesses in the Indian culture, so I think this topic could be a combination of both.

3. The Jataka Tales: I liked The Jataka Tales we read this week because I feel like they are very basic lessons that most people around the world try to teach their children at a young age. I enjoyed reading these stories this week, and flashing back to my childhood when I was taught these same lessons in a different context. I think this topic is kind of cool because it shows that the same stories used hundreds and thousands of years ago are still being told.

4.The Mountain Landscape of India: I found this topic by reading the storybook, Indian Mountain Stories. It is not something I would have thought about because I do not know the landscape of India that well, but when I scrolled across this storybook, I had to give it a shot. I am definitely a mountain person rather than a beach person, and I find the mountains absolutely breath taking. Reading this storybook was interesting to me, and I think that I could really get into writing about this topic. Not only does this topic allow me to discover the beauty of the Indian landscape, but the mountains also have cultural ties to other things, which could be compelling as well. The picture below is of beautiful mountains located in India.
